The JURA CLARIS Pro Smart+ water filter is designed to prevent limescale buildup in both the coffee machine and the water tank. It eliminates the need for regular descaling, extends your machine’s lifespan and helps keep the coffee flavor consistent.

Since coffee is more than 98% water, water quality is crucial. The CLARIS Pro Smart+ uses RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) to keep the machine in constant communication with the filter. The machine automatically detects whether the filter is correctly installed and adjusts its settings accordingly.

The top of the filter cartridge uses ion exchange and activated carbon to remove impurities. Thanks to the up-flow principle, only the water needed for brewing is filtered.

The machine continuously monitors the filter’s usage and notifies you when it is almost time to replace it. This keeps coffee quality high and protects the machine’s internal components from scale.

Extra benefit: prevents limescale in the water tank

At the bottom of the cartridge is a capsule with natural active ingredients that stabilize the water and reduce limescale in the tank. It works without power or moving parts, simply through the flow of water.

Forgot to replace the filter?

When the filter is nearly depleted, the machine alerts you. If you do not replace it in time, the machine switches to descaling mode and prompts you to descale, but only once the filter has been removed. This prevents confusion and misuse. Ideally, always replace the filter on time; otherwise you will need descaling tablets.

How long does the filter last?

The filter’s lifespan depends on the hardness of your tap water. After filtering, water hardness is reduced to around 5–6 °dH or 9–10 °fH. The harder your water, the more often you need to replace the filter. During setup, you test and set your water hardness with the supplied test strip.

CLARIS Pro Smart+ is suitable for all types of tap water. It uses a counter-current filtration process and filters only the water needed for brewing. It preserves important minerals and fluoride while removing harmful substances and limescale.

Why filter your water?

Tap water naturally contains calcium, which turns into limescale when heated. Limescale narrows pipes, wastes energy and can damage your machine. It also affects the flavor. Filtering your water prevents these issues and protects both your machine and your coffee quality.
