Colombia Finca Medina Espejo Honey

High in the mountains of Nariño, above 2,000 meters, lies Finca Medina Espejo — a small yet deeply rooted farm owned by Mauro Tulcán, a grower whose family has cultivated this land for more than half a century. Once part of one of the region’s largest estates, Medina Espejo carries a strong sense of heritage and identity, which Mauro preserves through both the name and the way he cares for the land.

Honey Plus is an InConexus program, created together with Mauro and a group of committed growers in the region. The program was born from a shared understanding of the potential of Nariño — its altitude, microclimates, and the unique profiles that honey-processed coffees can express here.

Mauro has been one of the key leaders in shaping the Honey Plus vision. But the heart of the program is collective: a group of producers motivated to improve quality, adopt water-saving practices, and build a consistent regional identity under one shared brand.

Although Medina Espejo is small, Mauro dedicates part of his farm to ecological conservation, maintaining native forest areas to protect biodiversity and ensure environmental balance. This approach is aligned with the principles behind Honey Plus: sustainability, community progress, and long-term resilience.

What makes Honey Plus special is the combination of tradition, innovation, and collaboration. Mauro continues to enhance his farm practices, and his leadership inspires nearby producers to do the same, strengthening not only their individual lots but also the collective reputation of the region.
